During the period studying photography in Prague, Ling had the sense of being in a cocoon enveloped by the enchantment of Central and Eastern Europe’s internal and physical landscapes.
Like a moth undergoing eclosion, he emerged from the metaphorical cocoon with fresh perspectives and expanded worldviews. This transformation inspired the series’ title, 'A Case of Eclosion.'
Each photo in the series symbolises trace left in the mental chess game between the infinite possibilities of the black box of photography and himself during the tangible, timid time of breaking the coccoon—the moment of growth as a photographer-artist.
